Calculus Student Testimonial

I took the course so that I could get a head start in calculus and be prepared for the upcoming year. I was worried that calculus was going to be a difficult course and I didn't want to walk into class on the first day of school and not have any idea about what we were doing. I wanted to understand the material and be able to solve the problems easily so that I wouldn't fall behind in class, not understanding any of the material.

I thought the course was excellent. I was prepared for a class full of students
, but when I walked through the door on the first day of the course, there was only a small amount of students.  Even though the class sizes were small, which was a plus, I still learned a lot about calculus. I was also expecting the class to be a boring 2 hours, learning math. I mean, who wants to do that during the summer? But after reviewing last years material (I had taken Advanced Algebra 2 my Junior year), I was hit with a load of new material that was completely foreign to me, calculus.

Over the course of the second week, we flew over calculus; learning derivatives, summation notation, optimization, implicit differentiation, and other material. The intensive lectures and format of the class was perfect; a solid hour of work and then a short break for you to "soak in" the information and then it was back to class for another intense hour. I thought the way the class was run was absolutely perfect. It kept you focused and attentive, no time for you to daze off and miss the material.

I walked out of the class, after the 2 weeks, not knowing if I had actually learned anything. I thought that there was so much information that came at me at once, I wasn't going to be able to comprehend it all. School started about 2 or 3 weeks later, just enough time to "absorb" the material. After a few weeks into school, I understood all of the material and none of it was foreign to me. It was crystal clear and I understood all of it. We were discussing derivatives and I understood each and every question and completed them with ease.

Everyone else in my class had no idea what was going on and I was the only one who understood any of it. Last year in Advanced Algebra 2, I ended up with an 86% (B). Being a "B" average student, I currently have a 94% (A) in calculus after the first semester, all thanks to this Calculus Pre-Fresher course. I would be dead in the water if it wasn't for that summer class.

Learn Ahead is Pareto Optimal

Hi Mr. Sheeran;  I thought it would be hard to top the math experience that my eighth grade son had, as he got the second highest in the grade on that math final after working with you. After taking your Pre-Fresher Course, he did better on the exam than all but one student who in fact went to the high school.  In any event, your staff is really terrific as well, and my son actually will now seek your programs to get help with his writing.  Thanks so much for organizing this.  I can't wait until he gets to the concept of pareto optimal in Econ.  Learn Ahead is pareto optimal(A change in the status quo that makes at least one person better off, while making no one else worse off.)
